Many of us spend decades, seeking to find our purpose; who we were created to be and what we  were created to do. Our purpose is often discovered through hardship, trauma, pain, loss or health diagnoses. 

After discovering my purpose, I not only learned to choose joy, in spite of the challenges…I made it a mission to Speak From A Joyful Heart!

I am a 34- year survivor of Heart Disease, Type-1 Diabetes, also living with Graves Disease. The initial road to healing was challenging, because my heart issues were misdiagnosed for 20 years. 

I’m now living life to the fullest with an insulin pump and a pacemaker and with purpose! I’m very passionate about sharing my journey to educate and advocate for others and I’ve been requested to speak on local, national and global platforms. 

In 2019, I was selected to serve as a GoRed For Women Real Women National Spokesperson and I presently serve as a member of the Oversight Advisory Committee for the AHA Health Equity Research Network (HERN) on the Disparities of Maternal and Infant Health.

I am also pleased to announce that I am now serving as a Core Investigator & Consultant for AMETHIST @ Penn. (University of Pennsylvania), where I will assist the Administrative Hub on Patient Advocacy and Policy.

I’m the Founder of “SHE SPEAKS FROM A JOYFUL HEART” my mission is to enlarge my inspirational speaking platform and my creative  poetry, scripture verses and prayers to encourage, inspire, uplift and empower others. I believe that the words that we speak over ourselves has a direct impact on our physical and our mental health and that there’s significant healing power in our words! 

My health journey has increased my faith and given me the strength to “Rise Above” adversity! I strongly believe that I’m STILL here with the purpose of helping others understand that they too can “Rise Above” their challenges…no matter what they might be!
